I immigrated to the U.S. with my mother and grandmother at the age of 8, and although I’m an American citizen and have been since I was a child, I was born in Stuttgart, Germany. For those of you who speak German, “Gruesse an alle Ausslaender! (Hello to all!) And to all - welcome to my website, and thank you for your visit. One of the things I love about my life here in Seattle, is the constant opportunity to meet and experience new people, cultures, and languages. While I still travel the globe annually - my neighbors, friends and family, and this city - is where my time, effort and heart is spent. I’ve lived and worked in West Seattle, Capitol Hill, Rainier Valley and Seward Park most of my adult life, and cherish the diversity and vibrancy of our local neighborhoods. I’ve been an active business professional and community member for many years, with past roles as Board Chair of the Southeast Seattle Senior Foundation; President of the Rainier Chamber of Commerce; Treasurer of the Eastside German Language School; and PTSA President for Maple Elementary School, to name a few. I was also co-owner of Burdick’s Security – a local commercial and residential security company that, under the management of my business partner and I, grew from a small locksmith shop to a nationally recognized full-service security company. I have two beautiful daughters, ages 14 and 20, a dog named Pebbles, and a new house that we just moved into in the Mount Baker neighborhood. I enjoy our city, and I know a lot about our neighborhoods – the restaurants, entertainment, schools, support services and communities. As your real estate agent, you can count on me to provide that knowledge and local experience to help you make the right home or business real estate decision.
Having sold and purchased a number of personal, investment and business properties over the years –I understand what a client needs when it comes to realizing their property dreams. I believe that a good real estate agent does more than just help you find a buyer, or a place to live or work. A good real estate agent knows people. They know marketing, what a deal looks like, and how to negotiate. But most importantly, they understand what you’re looking for. They can go out into the world as your representative and come back with choices that will not only meet your expectations– but exceed them, helping you find the right place, in the right location, at the right time. I believe I’m successful at real estate because I’m passionate about it. Always watching what’s on the market, the price, what’s included, and how quickly it moves. I’ve followed housing and property development trends for years – and other trends as well - in remodeling, landscape, furnishing and design because I am, and have always been, smitten with the idea of buying and selling the most interesting assets most of us ever own. And you can trust that I’ll take that passion right into my work with you.
For some of us, there’s a family story. In my case, it involved a trip my mother took to Paris as a young teenager. While there, she fell in love with the word “Ancienne” which means ancient. Years later, when I was born, she named me with it. But not knowing how to spell the French word, she made up her own version - Annsianne (An-see-en). Of course my Grandfather, being a practical man, thought this was ridiculous, and decided to call me “Susi”. So today I use both names, and you can call me by either.
Sometimes, I think about how having a first name of “ancient” has affected my life. The word ancient brings up some very interesting associations – like stable, lasting, solid, knowledgeable – all of which describe a great real estate agent. This is something I’m always striving for, and which I know I’ve achieved when my clients are pleased. I hope we have the chance to work together.
